Vice President Kamala Harris is the betting favorite to become the next president of the United States, surpassing former President Donald Trump in the betting markets.

While U.S. sports betting apps aren’t allowed to accept political wagers, BetMGM UK lists Harris at -125 to win the election. Trump currently holds +100 odds to serve a second term as president. One week ago, Harris was listed at +100 to become the next president, and former President Trump held -133 odds to win the election.

No other candidates currently have odds shorter than +10000 as Harris and Trump compete for the presidency.

Harris Makes Surge

Polymarket, a prediction market, gives Harris a 52% chance of winning the election. Trump is listed at 46%. That’s a major shift from recent weeks when Trump was the favored candidate.

On June 27, Harris was given just a 1% chance of winning the election. Since then, current President Joe Biden stopped his re-election bid a couple of weeks after a subpar debate performance and endorsed Harris to be the next president.

The current vice president has steadily gained ground on Trump in the market since it became clear she would lead the Democratic ticket.

Harris held a 43% chance of winning on Polymarket at the start of August, and now she’s climbed to over 50%.

Sports Handle’s election odds tracker gives Trump an edge over Harris, however, signaling the race is still highly competitive with a few months until election day. The Democratic National Convention will take place next week, and the two candidates are expected to participate in a debate on ABC on Sept. 10.

The election is scheduled for Nov. 5.
